Cheryl Kahn has more than 30 years of experience in education as a Reading Specialist, Literacy Coach, Instructional Support Specialist, Classroom Teacher, Graduate Instructor, Head Start School Readiness Coach, and Educational Consultant. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Literacy, where her research focuses on early literacy, recognizing the early signs of dyslexia, and instructional decision-making. Her interest in dyslexia grew through both her work as a Reading Specialist and her experiences as the parent of a child with dyslexia.

As a board member of Decoding Dyslexia North Carolina, Cheryl is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside parents, educators, researchers, and advocates who share a commitment to improving outcomes for students with dyslexia. She believes meaningful change happens when families, educators, and communities work together to ensure every child has access to the instruction and early support they need.
