Dr. Laurie Dymes is a 6th-grade ELA teacher in Lincoln County, North Carolina, and an adjunct instructor at UNC Charlotte's Cato College of Education. Through her own literacy intervention practice as a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist (C-SLDI), she is a resource in her community for comprehensive dyslexia assessments and provides structured literacy intervention for students of all ages. 

As a board member of Decoding Dyslexia North Carolina, Laurie brings a practitioner-researcher's perspective to the organization's advocacy and education work, drawing on classroom reading data and intervention outcomes to inform evidence-based practice. Laurie is passionate about early identification, early screening, and ensuring educators and families have the tools to support struggling readers, and she advocates for policies that give every child access to effective, research-based reading instruction.
